David C. Almeda
Vice President of Human Resources, Kronos, Inc.

Dave is responsible for overseeing the global human resources function at Kronos. He serves as a strategic business partner to Kronos' senior leadership team and drives the human capital management strategy, programs, and initiatives to support Kronos' continued growth and profitability.

Dave brings a wealth of human resources management expertise to Kronos, after having spent 16 years in various human resources functions at Staples, a $25 billion retailer with more than 90,000 employees worldwide. No stranger to managing functions across vast geographic regions, Dave's last position with Staples was vice president of global human resources. In that capacity, Dave supervised vice presidents of human resources for Staples' four primary business units. Earlier in his career with Staples, he served in various roles including vice president of global HR administration, vice president of worldwide HR integration, and vice president of European strategy based in Belgium. In addition, Dave is a graduate of this program.


Mike Barger

COO, Corporate University Xchange

 Mike currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for Corporate University Xchange.  Previously, he was a member of the JetBlue Airways start-up team in 1998. In addition to being the airline's senior pilot, he founded JetBlue University, the corporate learning function, which provides learning and development to all JetBlue Crewmembers, in 2000. This award-winning organization has grown to over 180 faculty at five campuses across the United States. During his twelve years at JetBlue, Mike served as Senior Vice President of Fleet Operations, with responsibility for all Flight Operations (JetBlue Pilots) and Technical Operations (JetBlue Maintenance) and as Senior Vice President of Strategic Talent Management, where he was responsible for all aspects of recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, professional development and succession planning at the airline. In addition, Mike is a graduate of this program.


Ed Betof Ed.D.

Ed is the President of Betof Associates LLC and provides leadership and team development coaching and consulting services to a wide range of organizations. He is an executive and executive team coach for the Center for Creative Leadership, serves as a faculty member for Penn State University and the Institute for Management Studies and is the program director for the Conference Board’s Executive Council on Talent and Organizational Development. Ed is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of “leaders as teachers” and newly promoted leader assimilation.

Ed retired from his corporate career at the end of 2007 as Global Vice President, Talent Management and Chief Learning Officer at BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), culminating 39 years in business, industry and education. Ed served as a member of the Board of Directors of ASTD from 2004-2007 and chaired the Conference Board’s Council on Learning, Development and Organizational Performance from 2005-2007. He is a member of Pennsylvania State University’s Outreach/On-Line Education and the University of Pennsylvania’s CLO Executive Doctoral Program’s Advisory Boards.

Ed is the author of Leaders as Teachers (2009), Co-Author of Leaders as Teachers Action Guide (2014), Just Promoted! (1992 and 2010), and has published over 15 journal articles.

Laurie Carrick, Ed.D.

In her current role as the Vice President of Training and Organizational Development, Laurie Carrick utilizes her 30 years of executive leadership - a combination of 12 years with Mobil Oil Corporation and 24 years as founding President of Carrick & Associates, a consulting company. Laurie’s executive leadership experience and passion to develop leaders is the cornerstone of her success in developing and motivating employees while focusing on improved individual and organizational effectiveness aligned with strategic initiatives. Peter Cheese

Peter is a recognised consultant, speaker and writer in the field of human capital and organization. He has extensive international experience gained from many years working with leading businesses around the world on human capital and organizational strategy, talent management and HR transformation, and the management of change. He has written numerous articles for leading publications worldwide and was the lead author on a book, The Talent-Powered Organization.

Peter retired in 2009 from Accenture after a 30 year career there as a member of the firm's Global Leadership Council and as the Global Managing Director responsible for the firms Talent and Organization Performance consulting practice. Under his leadership, this grew to be the largest consulting practice of its kind with over 3000 consultants. In 2008, he was named as one of the top 25 consultants worldwide by Consulting Magazine.

Mary is an Assistant Vice President at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is one of 12 regional Reserve banks that, along with the Board of Governors, constitute the Federal Reserve System. As the nation's central bank, the Fed is responsible for conducting monetary policy, supervising banks, and operating the nation's payment system. Mary leads The Center for Learning Innovation at the St. Louis Fed which creates technology-enabled learning solutions for multiple business lines across the Federal Reserve System. In addition to internal Federal Reserve employee programs, the Center also designs and delivers programs that are available to the public, including other financial institution regulators and K-12 students. 

Mary is a member of the ASTD Public Policy Council and was a 2009 and 2010 reviewer for the ASTD BEST Awards. Additionally, she sits on the Corporate University Xchange Social Learning Executive Council.

Mary attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She received a Masters of Science degree in Human Resources from Loyola University Chicago and a Masters of Science degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Steve Kerr

Steve is executive director of the Jack Welch Management Institute, and is a senior advisor to Goldman Sachs. From 2001-2006, he was a managing director at Goldman and was the firm's Chief Learning Officer. Steve came to GS from General Electric, where for seven years he was CLO and Vice President of Corporate Leadership Development. He was previously on the business school faculties of The Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Southern California where he was Dean of the faculty and Director of the Ph.D. program. Steffen serves as Citi’s Chief Learning Officer, with responsibility for building an integrated, best-in-class learning organization across the company.  In his prior role, Steffen was Vice President of Executive and Leadership Development for Hewlett Packard, which included global responsibility for leadership and management development at all levels of HP.  His group’s programs drew heavily on the principles of partnership with the business, leaders teaching leaders and action learning.

 Prior to joining HP in 2006, Steffen worked for 20 years with Goldman Sachs in New York.  He served as Managing Director with the Pine Street Leadership Development Group, which was recognized for its innovative programs and partnership with business leaders at the firm. Nancy Lewis

Nancy was the Chief Learning Officer and Vice President of ITT with responsibility for ITT’s leadership in learning. She joined ITT after nearly 30 years with IBM where she most recently served as Vice President for IBM Sales and On Demand Learning. Her organization was focused on learning innovation and the effectiveness of the corporation's top strategic learning initiatives across leadership development, technical, functional and professional development.

Under Nancy's leadership, IBM achieved global recognition for its world-class training and development programs, receiving numerous awards and honors from professional organizations and governments. IBM has been ranked number one twice in the past four years on Training magazine's "Top 100" list for learning solutions, and the company was inducted into the Training Hall of Fame in 2007.

Elliott Masie

Elliott heads the MASIE Center, a Saratoga Springs, New York-based think tank focused on how organizations can support learning and knowledge within the workforce. He leads the Learning CONSORTIUM, a coalition of 230 Fortune 500 companies cooperating on the evolution of learning strategies. Donna McNamara
Former Vice President, Global Education and Training, Colgate-Palmolive Company

Donna is a global leader who consults with organizations to improve business results through learning, leadership and organization development. Formerly the Vice President of Global Education and Training for Colgate-Palmolive Company, she developed and implemented Colgate’s world-wide learning strategy, designed the company’s business goal alignment process and built leadership capability in accelerating effective change. Prior to Colgate, she was an executive with AT&T in human resources, education, and strategic planning. Donna is a past national president of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), a recipient of the Gordon M. Nigel Paine

Roberto Pucci

Executive Vice President, Human Resources of the Sanofi Group 

Roberto Pucci has a Law degree from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He started his career in 1985 at Coopers & Lybrand in Geneva, Switzerland as an external auditor.

He then joined Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 1987, where he held various positions in Human Resources in Switzerland and Italy including HR Manager for the European Headquarter and Human Resources Director in Italy. In 1999, he became Director, Compensation & Benefits for Agilent Technologies, a spin off from HP, and was appointed Vice President Human Resources Europe in 2003.

In 2005 he moved to the United States to join Case New Holland, a subsidiary of the Fiat Group, as Senior Vice President, Human Resources, and was appointed, in 2007, Executive Vice President, Human Resources for the Fiat Group in Torino, Italy. He was appointed to his present position as Executive Vice President, Human Resources of the Sanofi Group in Paris, France in October 2009.


Rosina Racioppi

Dr. Racioppi earned her doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Firm, Raj was Vice-President of Enterprise Solutions at Apollo Education Group and has served as a management consultant at Accenture, IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers providing leadership and talent management services to a variety of Fortune 500 clients in the higher-education, manufacturing, retail and high-tech industries. Raj has worked with senior executives, top teams and high-potential leaders and managers, guiding them and their organizations to deliver business results.

Rebecca L. Ray, Ph.D.

Rebecca Ray serves as the Executive Vice President, Knowledge Organization for The Conference Board. In this role, she has oversight of the research planning and dissemination process for all three practices areas (Corporate Leadership, Economy & Business Environment, and Human Capital) and is responsible for the research agenda which, in turn, drives much of the business planning process for The Conference Board. Alejandro Reyes
Vice President, Organization and Talent Development, Laureate Education

Alejandro is the VP of Organization and Talent Development for Laureate Education, Inc. Laureate is a global private education system that has presence in 28 countries, with 55 institutions of higher education and other specialized fields.  In this role, Alejandro has global responsibility for organization development, leadership and executive development, succession planning, engagement and culture.  Prior to Laureate, he was Executive Director of Global Learning and Development and Chief Learning Officer for Dell, Inc.  He joined Dell in October of 2006. Before that, Mr. Reyes was Director of Leadership Development and Executive Education in Motorola, Inc. He has managed learning and development projects in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Born and raised in Mexico City, he worked for Dana Corporation as manager of maintenance engineering. Alejandro spent eight years at Monterrey Institute of Technology in the roles of Academic Advisor, Director of Quality and Dean of Distance Learning, where he initiated the expansion of that university into South America. He was also Dean of Development for Monterrey Tech’s Virtual University. Alejandro holds a Master of Science in manufacturing systems and automation, holds the Dana technology prize (1992), and is author of the book Quality Techniques and Models in the Classroom being used in Mexico and Latin America for faculty development programs.


Judy Schueler

Judy Schueler

Judy is Vice President for Organizational Development and Chief Human Resources Officer for the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS). In these roles, she integrates the system’s human resource functions and its organizational development to ensure that UPHS provides employees a healthy and productive work environment with ample opportunities to grow professionally.

Since 2004, Judy served as Vice President, Workforce Development and Chief Learning Officer at Vanguard Health Systems in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to that, she served the University of Chicago Hospital and Health System for 12 years as Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, leading the development of an award-winning workforce education organization. A frequent lecturer and contributor to her field, Judy received her Bachelors degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and her Masters in Organizational Behavior from Benedictine University.


Ann E. Schulte, Ed.D.

As the Global Leader of Learning and Leadership Development at P&G, Dr. Ann Schulte has global responsibility to support the capability development of all employees, across regional, functional and business unit levels and to drive a strategy that aligns with the overall talent management intent to be increasingly focused, transparent and cohesive. As a key leader in the effort to take P&G's already high performing leadership development to the next level, the scope of Ann’s role includes all levels of leadership and management training on a worldwide basis, including executive development. She is also responsible to drive the change and innovation necessary to build organizational capabilities and impact business strategy with learning designs focused on relevance, speed and quality.

As CLO at MasterCard Worldwide, Ann established and ran an award-winning corporate university and a sales academy providing compelling workshops and engaging online programs using video and mobile technologies. She was also responsible for integrating learning and talent development with key talent management processes including performance, succession and competency management.

Before joining MasterCard in 2002, Ann was a management consultant with SSE Learning Services. As principal of her own consulting practice, Ann delivered learning/performance improvement solutions over a 10 year period for clients such as Helzberg Diamonds, Sprint, Ferrellgas, and the Kansas City Zoo. Her early career focus was in public relations and corporate communications.

Ann earned her doctorate (EdD) in Work-based Learning Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania/Wharton School of Business. Her dissertation, a qualitative study of the role of learning and development in employer brand practices, was designated a dissertation of distinction. She holds a master’s degree in Media from Webster University, and a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Missouri. Ann taught for several years in an adjunct faculty role at the Keller Graduate School of Management. She has served on the Public Policy Council for the American Society of Training and Development, on the Board of the ABA BankCard School of Management and on the HR Committee at the Magic House, a children's museum in St. Louis. She was an organizer for the PennCLO alumni network. Currently, Ann is on the Editorial Advisory Board for Training magazine and volunteers for the STRIVE Partnership in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Rita is Vice President, Enterprise Learning for Ingersoll Rand and Dean for the Ingersoll Rand University. Ingersoll Rand is a $17 billion global, diversified industrial company. Ingersoll Rand University is responsible for developing strategic organizational competencies, providing leadership education, and for driving the IR culture across the globe. Rita has over 27 years of progressive leadership roles in the learning and development field. She has led learning functions in a variety of Fortune 500 companies; including the travel, financial services, and high tech manufacturing industries. The combination of her MBA, and Ed.D., coupled with her Six Sigma background, enables her to leverage a practical, applied business approach to learning and development. Her professional writings, most recently in the Pfeiffer Annual and T&D Magazine, similarly reflect this pragmatism. Rita has served ASTD in a variety of leadership roles, including her current role as an ASTD Board of Director. She was most recently profiled in the September 2007 issue of CLO Magazine.


John Smith, III

John joined Reed Smith in 1991. Prior to joining Reed Smith, he had been a partner in the firm of Dilworth, Paxson, Kalish & Kauffman. A member of Reed Smith’s Executive Committee for 11 years, he currently concentrated on his practice and on the administration of Reed Smith University, for which he serves as chancellor.

John graduated from Princeton University in 1963 and from Yale Law School in 1970. Before law school, he served for three years as an officer in the United States Navy, including service as the operations officer of River Division 511 in Can Tho, South Vietnam. Since his admission to the bar in 1970, John has practiced broadly in the areas of litigation and business counseling, with an emphasis on commercial matters. He has had extensive experience in the fields of insurance, banking, health care, governmental relations, the licensing of intellectual property, constitutional interpretation, and employment and civil rights matters. John has served as lead or coordinating counsel in a wide variety of complex matters, class actions, and regulatory proceedings.

With this experience, John is a frequent course planner and lecturer at insurance institutes conducted by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He chairs the Reed Smith Roundtable on the financial industry, a biennial forum that brings senior industry executives and counsel, public officials, regulators, academics, and other observers together for interactive analysis and discussion of issues affecting the industry. In 2004, Reed Smith created Reed Smith University with assistance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. John became its first chancellor and currently devotes much of his time to the development of this one-of-a-kind educational initiative.


Martha Soehren

Martha is the Chief Learning Officer for Comcast and Senior Vice President for Comcast University. She has ten years of experience with the Telecommunications Industry, 25 years with the Defense Industry, and 13 years of experience as an adjunct professor, research advisor and academic advisor.

Martha is the recipient of the Liberty Award for Leadership from the Philadelphia Chapter of Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT), identified as an influential Woman to Watch by Cable World, and an honoree of Top Practitioners in the field of Leadership Development by Leadership Excellence Organization. She is a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of WICT National; member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Strategic Directions Commiitee of the American Society for Training & Development; a Learning LEader with the Elliott Masie Consortium and contributing author to Masie's Learning Leader Fieldbook; member of Cable and Telecommunications for Marketing; member, Philadelphia's Forum of Executive Women; and member of the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications. Felice J. Tilin, Ph.D.

Felice is an author, professor and a consultant.  She is currently the Director of Graduate Programs in Organizational Development and Leadership at Saint Joseph’s University and is President of her own consulting practice where she focuses on organizational change, leadership development and executive coaching with multinational private, public and non-profit organizations in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.  She most recently developed a cross-cultural organizational development certificate program for human resource leaders in China. In her previous work at Teleos Leadership Institute she co-created leadership development strategies for a large multinational bank and helped the UNDP build capacity in South Africa and Swaziland.  Previously, Felice was the Director of Leadership Development at the University of Pennsylvania and a Training Director for Cigna’s MCC Behavioral Care.  Felice holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Development from Temple University. She is currently a lecturer in the University Of Pennsylvania CLO program and teaches Group Dynamics, Leadership and Research at Saint Joseph’s University. A. William Wiggenhorn

Bill is responsible for the Main-Captiva consulting business including custom-designed executive development strategy, systems, and programs, as well as talent management strategies and systems. He is an acknowledged expert in the fields of training and development, executive and leadership development, e-learning, marketing, and business strategy. Prior to establishing Main-Captiva, Bill was a consultant to industry and the not-for-profit sector with EDA. He also served as a senior learning and development executive at Xerox and as CLO (chief learning officer) at Motorola and Cigna. He is perhaps best known for establishing Motorola University (MU) as the benchmark corporate university. Bill's board participation has included the ASTD Council of Governors, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Educational Testing Service, and the Emory University Business School Advisory Board.
